Ruth F. (Furlong) Conner

TOWNSEND: Ruth (Furlong) Conner, 95, of Townsend, Ma. died peacefully on Friday, July 17th, 2026 with family by her side. Ruth was born in Clinton, Ma. on October 8, 1930, a daughter to Francis and Mary Furlong. She grew up in West Fitchburg before moving to Townsend after marrying her beloved husband of 65 years, Henry “Jim” Conner. Ruth served as the Assistant Town Clerk in Townsend for many years and later worked as a home health aide before retiring. Ruth will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her for her kind and caring nature, her incredible patience, calming presence and deep love of her family. She was the quiet and steady foundation of our family whose love, grace, and gentle presence touched every generation. She loved life and was always grateful for what she had and for the help that she received in her later years. Ruth loved to spend time reading and always looked forward to playing bingo most every week. She loved to play cards and especially loved a nightly cribbage game with her husband Jim. Ruth loved her family deeply and looked forward to gathering at Haynes Rd for a Sunday dinner, birthday party, cook out or to just spend time with family and friends. Both Ruth and Jim made everyone feel welcome in their home where there was always a steady flow of company. Ruth is predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Henry “Jim” Conner; and leaves her four sons, David C. Conner and wife Pamela of Sebastian, FL, Thomas P. Conner who is predeceased by his partner Darlene Whittaker of Townsend, Timothy J. Conner and wife Candice of Sharon, NH, Christopher J. Conner and wife Michelle of Townsend; eight grandchildren, Ryan Conner, Allison Chase, Corey Conner, Lauren Conner, Dylan Conner, Jaret Conner, Riley Conner, Jaimie Conner and many great grandchildren spanning multiple generations. She was predeceased by her son, Michael H. Conner of Kentucky and was the sister of the late Francis Furlong, Theresa Busby, Mary Calamare, and John “Jackie” Furlong. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, July 29th, 2026 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte. 119) Townsend Center. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. Ruth’s family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation period on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
