FITCHBURG: Quoc "Bruce" Tong, 45, of Fitchburg, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, October 8, 2023. Bruce was born on February 11, 1978, in Ben Tre, Vietnam, to his loving parents, father Trung Tong and mother Binh Nguyen. Bruce was a beacon of positivity, known for his infectious squinty-eyed smile and radiant personality. He had the remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met, never uttering a negative word about anyone and always finding humor even in life's most challenging moments. Throughout his life, Bruce faced the tumultuous battle of substance use and rehabilitation. Despite these struggles, the love and support from his family and friends remained unwavering. In 2021, Bruce endured a traumatic brain injury that left him physically weakened on his right side. Through dedicated physical and spiritual rehabilitation, he discovered solace in his faith, guided by his nephew, Lam Nguyen, and his wife, Y Lam, who introduced him to the Vietnamese Assembly of God and City United Church. Within these communities, he found invaluable support, embarked on a journey of redemption, sought forgiveness, and began forging a new life path. Bruce's NA family played a pivotal role in his life, offering him hope and infusing his days with joy and purpose. His humility, willingness to share his story, and the unwavering effort he put into maintaining his sobriety were a testament to his strength and resilience. Bruce was making remarkable progress in his life, working diligently to support his mother and daughter. His dedication to spending quality time with his family, particularly as a kind and generous uncle to his nieces and nephews, showcased his genuine and compassionate nature. Despite his personal struggles, Bruce's heart was filled with goodness, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him. Bruce is preceded in death by his father, Trung Tong. He is survived by his beloved mother, Binh Nguyen, his brother, Tam Tong, and his sisters, Chau, Trang, and Linda Tong. He leaves behind his cherished children, Calvin and Kaylee Tong. Bruce's family will receive relatives and friends at calling hours celebrating Bruce's life at Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 4 pm to 7 pm.
