Peter Godin

LUNENBURG- Peter Godin (Captain of the Black Pearl), 64, of Lunenburg, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Peter was born in Fitchburg on April 22, 1958 a son of the late Lionel and Ruth (Flanagan) Godin and has resided in Lunenburg since 1988. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1977. Peter was a shipping manager for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions in Northborough for many years prior to his retirement in 2021. Pete could be described as a jack of all trades. If something was broken, he would always find a way to fix it, including mending broken hearts. Pete and his wife Darlene’s favorite thing to do was share their love for Hickory Hills Lake year round with friends and family. He was an avid fisherman, however, he needed to work on his netting skills! Pete was known for jamming out to The Beatles, The Who and The Grateful Dead, along with many other bands during his fun cruises around the lake on bass and pontoon boats. Pete had one of the strongest passions for live music that one could possibly have. He felt the music in his soul which brought goosebumps to his entire body and the most genuine smile to his face. Sports were also a strong passion for Pete. If he was watching any of the New England/Boston teams play he was always the most boisterous guy in the room. Along with watching them, he also enjoyed playing them. In his early years, he played street hockey and high school football as a defensive lineman at Fitchburg High School. Many things kept Pete active and enjoying life though. Having fires and chilling in the hot tub on his stone patio built by his best friends and himself, renovating their home, throwing darts, playing cribbage, and spending as much time as he could with family, often babysitting grandchildren. No man could possibly love his girls and their children more than him. His infectious laugh is a sound that will never be forgotten. Peter leaves behind his loving wife of 42 years, Darlene M. (Morin) Godin of Lunenburg, two daughters; Elizabeth J. Richmond of Brimfield and Jennifer L. Godin of Ashburnham, Jennifer’s fiancé Ryan Ludwick, three brothers; John Godin of Hyde Park, Paul Godin of Leominster, Thomas Godin of West Palm Beach, FL, seven grandchildren; Nicholas, Noah, Ava, Jared, Quintin, Owen and Kaden, along with many nephews and nieces. Pete’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 4 to 7PM in the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer. A celebration of life “One More Saturday Night with Pete” will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 4 to 7PM at the Monoosnock Country Club, 40 Monoosnock Dr., Leominster. Feel free to wear your favorite concert going or NE sports team attire to help keep the party going for Pete! In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) in Peter’s name.
