Paul F. Scheipers

Paul Scheipers, 74, of Lunenburg, MA, passed away suddenly at home Sunday, August 10, 2025 due to cardiac and diabetes complications. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a good friend to many. Paul is survived by his wife of 22 years, Anita (Mentzer) Scheipers, his 2 children, 4 step children, and 16 grandchildren. (He often joked he would need to buy a bus to transport all the grandkids!) Son of Edward and Marguerite Scheipers, Paul grew up in Bedford, MA before moving to Bolton as a young man to raise his family. He volunteered countless hours on town committees, and other local organizations. After his later marriage to Anita, they moved to Lunenburg. Paul had a distinguished career in the management of large building construction and demolition projects throughout New England. His projects involved many well known urban structures including the construction of the international terminal at Logan airport, construction improvements to the Deer Island Waste Water Treatment Facility in Boston Harbor, renovations of both Fenway Park and Boston Garden, and the demolition of Gillette Stadium. Paul will be remembered for his love for his extended family. Paul’s children and grandchildren include: daughter Jennifer (Scheipers) Schelly, her husband Neil, and their daughter, Aeryn; son Gregory Scheipers, his wife Cathryn, and their children, Caroline, Spence, and Fred; Benjamin Ware, his wife Christine, and their children, Shane and Shawn; Jason Ware, his wife Erin, and their children, Nathan, Emma, Isla, and Lucy; Christopher Ware, his fiancé Kelley Zogopoulos, and their children, Riley, Brielle, and Mazie; Julia (Ware) Trobaugh, her husband Phelps, and their children, Aubrey, Maddison, and Myles. Paul often appeared gruff, but he had a soft heart. He can be remembered for his common sense approach to life and a dry sense of humor. Even through his successful treatments for metastasized cancer, he never slowed down and was always there to help anyone if needed. In his retirement Paul spent time working with Anita renovating their antique farmhouse. Paul enjoyed hosting large family gatherings for holidays and birthday celebrations in their home. He was always the proud father or grandfather attending as many school and sports events as he could to support each child or grandchild in their endeavors - in all kinds of weather! Besides his love for his family, Paul had a deep passion for trains, trucks, and heavy equipment. He was a proud collector, owning a 1951 Mack Fire Truck, as well as countless antique toy trucks and precision models of heavy equipment. His love for rail travel with Anita took them to many places; one iconic trip being their ten day honeymoon in a private rail car attached to the backs of various Amtrack trains on routes throughout the western part of the nation. Paul and Anita also loved to travel abroad as much as they could. His favorite go-to-place was Santorini, Greece. He will be missed by many…. A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church, 673 Main Street, Bolton, MA on Saturday, September 6 at 10:30am. A private burial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute (Dana-Farber.org). The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer, is assisting the family.
