Mary A. (Harvey) Carlo, 93, of Townsend

Mary A. Carlo, of Townsend, passed away peacefully at home on July 13, 2026 at 93 years of age. She leaves behind an immense legacy of warmth, generosity, beauty, quick-witted humor, graceful strength and friendship to all. Mary was born in Somerville, MA on January 4, 1933, the oldest daughter of Mary (O’Brien) Harvey and Charles R. Harvey. As a young child, she was affectionately nicknamed “Honey” for her bright blonde curls and bubbly personality to match. Growing up, she cherished the summers she spent on Prince Edward Island with her grandparents and returned to visit their hometown faithfully throughout her life. In 1952, she married her husband Robert J. Carlo. Together, they’d be known and admired as “Honey and Carlo” for the next 60 years. Theirs was a true partnership built on devotion, laughter and friendship that will forever serve as an example to all who met them. As a couple, they moved to Littleton in 1957, Westford in 1966 and later Townsend in 1994. Throughout each move, Mary’s magnetic charm and love of a good party drew a tight-knit community of friends and neighbors around her that only grew stronger across decades. Whether it was a drive up the New England coast or a flight around the world, Mary was quick to pursue any adventure she could share with someone she loved. And because she found humor everywhere, she never failed to return with a funny story from the road. At home, no one was better to turn to for a recipe than Nana Mary – not only for her unmatched talent and creativity in the kitchen, but because every recipe also came with the promise that “we will make this together some nice day.” Mary’s exceptional capacity for love was most apparent in the way she spoke of her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She shared in each of their interests as though they were her own, and every accomplishment big or small was celebrated with a kind word or text. Mary is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Doucette (Steve), Theresa Carlo and Elaine Carlo ; nine grandchildren, Chris Milinazzo (Momo), Brandon Lockyer (Sascha), Lauren Doucette and Stefanie Doucette, Eric Gurry, Jodie Gurry (Daniel) and Kimberly Gurry (Nicholas), Sarina Phatthammachack (Eric) and Cherisse Kitner (Andrew) ; and nine great-grandchildren, George Lockyer, Rory and Otto Freeman, Stella Kitner, Frank and Joseph Davieau, Brody and Bryce Phatthammachack, and Salvatore Milinazzo. She also leaves behind her loving sister Anne Baker, dear friends Pat Enwright and Joan Pioli, sister-in-law Diane Harvey, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Though they were always in her heart, she is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Carlo Sr., her son Robert Carlo Jr, her grandson Nicholas Lockyer and her two brothers, Charles and Brian Harvey. For Mary, every day was an opportunity for joy. And in every person was potential for a life-long friend. Mrs. Carlo’s funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Monday, July 20, 2026 at Blessed Trinity Parish, worshiping at St. Catherine’s Church, 107 North Main Street, Westford. There are no calling hours. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. The Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
