Mark J. Haven, of Ashby

Ashby - Mark Haven, 74, a longtime and devoted resident of Ashby, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 2, 1951, Mark was the son of the late John A. Haven and Barbara J. Haven. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 43 years, Reverend Patricia Haven, as well as his children Kimberly Haven and Mark Haven Jr. Mark leaves behind his loving daughters, Stacey Jackson and her husband Gary of Myrtle Beach, SC, Lyndsy Butler and her husband Paul Gallagher of Ashby MA, and Rebecca Haven and her partner William Leroy of Sterling MA. He also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. He also leaves his mother, Barbara Haven of Vero Beach, FL, and a host of siblings, nieces and nephews. Mark grew up in Townsend, Ma. and graduated from North Middlesex in 1969. He moved his family to Ashby in 1975 and was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion and served the community for many years with the Ashby Fire Department, ending his time with them as the Assistant Chief. He dedicated much of his working life to Shepherd’s in Townsend, where he began working at just 15 years old and remained until the business closed in 2020. Mark was a fixture at Shepherd’s Sales and Service for over 50 years, and was able to repair just about any piece of equipment customers brought in. Many people knew Mark for his love of classic cars and car shows, and he was instrumental in starting the Ashby Car Show for Veterans. He was well known throughout the community for his kindness, hard work, and willingness to lend a helping hand. Mark’s presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate Mark’s life and share memories of the man who meant so much to so many. Calling hours will be held at TJ Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend, on Thursday May 28, 2026, from 10am to 12pm with a service to begin at 12pm. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Ashby. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mark’s memory to The Ashby Fire/EMS Association at 1093 Main Street, Ashby, MA 01431.
