Maeve Krisztina Serene

Our beautiful and deeply loved Maeve Krisztina Serene passed away unexpectedly on August 24, 2026, at just 6 months and 24 days old. Maeve was the precious daughter of Adam and Julia, and from the moment she entered this world, she was surrounded by more love than words could ever describe. In her six short months, Maeve changed our family forever. She brought happiness into every room she entered and gave us memories that will remain with us for the rest of our lives. She was our beautiful baby girl, our granddaughter, our joy, and such an incredibly special part of our family. Maeve never needed a lifetime to make a lifetime’s worth of impact. She was here for only 204 days, but every one of those days mattered. She knew the warmth of her mommy and daddy’s arms, the voices of the people who adored her, the comfort of being held, kissed and cuddled, and the security of knowing nothing but love. There are simply no words for the heartbreak of losing a child so suddenly. Our family had plans for Maeve. We imagined her first steps, her first words, birthdays, holidays, school days and all the milestones we believed we would have the privilege of watching her reach. We are grieving not only the beautiful baby we lost, but an entire lifetime we wanted so desperately to share with her. We would give anything for more time. Maeve’s life was heartbreakingly short, but her life was not small. She was here. She mattered. She was loved beyond measure, and she will be loved for as long as we live. We will carry Maeve with us in everything we do. We will speak her name. We will tell her stories. We will remember her beautiful little face and every precious moment we were blessed to have with her. Maeve, you will forever be Mommy and Daddy’s beautiful baby girl and our precious granddaughter. We don’t understand why we had to lose you so soon. We only know that loving you was one of the greatest gifts our family has ever been given. Six months and twenty-four days could never have been enough. We will love you for the rest of our lives. Maeve leaves her loving parents, Adam Serene and Julia Tortorino of Manchester, NH; her paternal grandparents, C. Paul and Elizabeth Serene of Townsend, her maternal grandmother, Szilvia Plourd and her husband Christopher of South Carolina; her maternal great-grandmother, Eszter Bessenyei of Hungary; numerous uncles and aunts including, Elizabeth and Michael Sarao, Dylan Serene, Renee Serene, Christina Serene, Christopher Serene, Heliaris Serene, Emily Serene, Troy Serene, Imre Bessenyei and Zsolt Bessenyei and a cousin, Anthony Sarao. She is predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Anthony Tortorino. Maeve’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 1 School St., Townsend, followed by a burial in the Hillside Cemetery in Townsend. Those wishing to honor Maeve’s memory are invited to donate a children’s book to their local public library in her name, sharing with another child the joy Maeve found in being read to. The T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
