Lorraine A. Loprete

TOWNSEND; Lorraine A. (Tremblay) Loprete, 69, of Townsend, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Brigham & Women’s Faulkner Hospital, Boston, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous nine month battle with cancer. Lorraine was born in Somerville, July 17, 1953, one of seven children born to George E. and Shirley L. (Dunakin) Tremblay and grew up in Cambridge. She was a 1971 graduate of Cambridge Latin High School. That same year, she met the love of her life, Vin. She resided in Townsend for more than forty five years where she raised her family and ran a home daycare. She touched the lives of many children over the years and those she cared for always held a special place in her heart. She was a strong woman of faith and a member of Faith Worship Center in Pepperell for over 27 years. She leaves her devoted husband and best friend of 49 years, Vincent J. Loprete; two daughters and sons in law, Cheryl K. and Timothy Nawn of Pepperell, Lisa A. and Brian Fair of Milford, NH; six grandchildren, Hannah Burkholder, Christian Nawn, Sophia Nawn, Savannah Nawn, Cayden Emerson, Gabriella Fair; three brothers, Philip Tremblay and his wife Janis of Woburn, George Tremblay and his wife Linda of Billerica, Stephen Tremblay and his wife Julie of Burlington; two sisters, Jeannette Tremblay of Arlington, Michelle Donahue of Burlington; and her beloved dog. She was predeceased by her brother, Michael Tremblay of Cambridge. Lorraine’s greatest joy in life was her family. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her loved ones. She adored her grandchildren and cherished being a part of their everyday lives. She and her husband were their biggest supporters and participated in all of their events and activities. In her spare time, Lorraine enjoyed swimming and exercising at the YMCA, attending weekly bible study groups, and having heartfelt conversations with friends over a cup of tea. Lorraine’s simple pleasures were watching Hallmark movies with her husband, going yard saling and enjoying the many colors of New England fall foliage. Lorraine will always be remembered as being reliable, honest, thoughtful, compassionate, and generous; she never hesitated to help someone in need. She had a zest for life and even a small event turned into a celebration. She was a social butterfly and her magnetic personality drew others to her. Even strangers would converse with her as though they had been lifelong friends. Her laughter was contagious and even during her most difficult days, she always had a smile on her face and was able to find joy in every situation. She prayed for those who were hurting and was like a lighthouse shining to those in the darkness. Lorraine was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by many.
