Kathryn A. (Fleming) Hawkins

FITCHBURG: Kathryn Ann (Fleming) Hawkins, 63, of Fitchburg passed unexpectedly from this world Friday, January 28, 2022, at Health Alliance - Leominster Hospital. Kathy was born in Fitchburg, March 5, 1958, the daughter of Mary F. (Kennedy) Fleming and the late Paul F. Fleming. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and Fitchburg High School, graduating in 1976 with the Gold “F”. She continued her education at Burbank Hospital School of Nursing and for a time worked as a Registered Nurse at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation in Greenfield, NH. Upon returning to Fitchburg, she met her beloved husband, Stephen P. Hawkins. They were married in May of 1983. Kathryn was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Parish. She organized and participated in many of the fairs, variety shows and suppers fundraising for St. Joseph’s school. She worked in the St. Joseph School Library and was the leader of the St. Joseph’s Children’s Choir. Kathy also volunteered at the American Red Cross and participated in the Fitchburg Girl Scout program. Kathryn lived her life as a loving wife and devoted mother, grandmother and daughter. She enjoyed crafting and reading, and never failed to send a note reminding friends and family they were loved. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Stephen P. Hawkins; her son, Daniel P. Hawkins of Fitchburg; her daughter, Elizabeth M. Murray, and her husband Krystofer, of Martinsburg, WV; two grandchildren, Ellie Murray, Dean Murray; her mother, Mary F. Fleming of Fitchburg; her brother, Thomas A. Fleming and his wife Marisa of Fitchburg; her sister, Ruthmary Irr and her husband, Brian of Medway MA; her sister-in-law, Karen Dube of Manchester, TN; her uncle, Joseph Connors of Madison, AL; her aunt, Gail Horsefield of Marshfield Mills and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. She will be dearly missed by all. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Church, 49 Woodland Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be held privately. Calling hours are 4-7 Monday, February 7, 2022 at the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg.
