Jean M. (Wostbrock) Holden

Mrs. Holden was born in Patterson, New Jersey, June 5, 1931, the daughter of Henry J. and Gertrude E. (Boucher) Wostbrock Jr. and graduated from Pompton Lakes High School, Pompton Lakes, NJ. She continued her education at Endicott Jr. College in Beverly where she received an Associate Degree in Fine Arts. The Wostbrock and Holden Families both had the same annual summer vacation time at Allen's By-the-Sea at Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport. Jean's family traveled from New Jersey and David's family from Shirley. They met at the hotel as young teenagers. They kept in touch during high school years, with letter writing and Dave hitch-hiking every other weekend from Massachusetts to New Jersey to visit Jean. Jean attended Endicott Junior College which brought her to Massachusetts where David attended Harvard. Immediately after Dave's graduation they were married, June 28, 1952. Mrs. Holden worked many years with her husband in their family business, AMPAC Enterprises – All Star Sporting Goods based in Shirley. A talented artist on many levels, Mrs. Holden became accomplished in commercial art, water color, oil, and tole painting as well as interior design. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and working in her flower garden. Mrs. Holden always remained fit and continued to ski through age seventy. For many years she operated her own mail order business known as “Yankee Workbench”. Mrs. Holden is survived by two sons and daughters in law, David J. and Piyalak Holden, Jr. of Lunenburg, Richard H. Holden and Susan Marshall of Maynard; two daughters and sons in law, Carol E. and Stanley Jurga of Shirley, Linda M. and Steven Rooney of Littleton; two brothers, Henry J. Wostbrook, III of Midland Park, NJ, William W. Wostbrook of Hudson, FL; ten grandchildren, Stanley M. Jurga Jr., Sara J. Tortorici, Brad D. Jurga, Michael S. Rooney, Kristen E. Jarmuzewski, Mark R. Rooney, Andrew J. Holden, Amanda J. Curtis, William J. Holden, Aliya B. Holden; five great grandchildren, Madelyn Jurga, Emily Jurga, Dean Curtis, Shriya Rooney and Finn Tortorici. She also leaves her dear friend and companion, Fred Parks of Littleton.
