Jane C. (Kuepferle) Mitchell

AYER – Jane C. (Kuepferle) Mitchell, 76 of Ayer, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Born in Greensboro, NC, Jane was the daughter of the late Lewis F. and Ruth B. (Crabtree) Kuepferle of Greensboro, NC. A military spouse, Jane married her husband Wilfred in 1972, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. As a military spouse, Jane traveled around the world. She started her career in childhood education when her husband was stationed in South Korea. She joined him at that location on a US Army Command Sponsorship. She continued this career as an Associate teacher in Louisiana, Panama, and Fort Devens, MA. Additionally, she was a child care provider and a "Nanny" for several families in Ayer and Harvard, MA. Although her health did not allow for much travel, Jane managed to travel to Dubai and England on several occasions. She loved the beach. Family vacations included some of her favorite beaches; Carolina Beach, Old Orchard Beach, Myrtle Beach, and Hampton Beach. When unable to travel to those beaches, she enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing all about the adventures of her grandchildren, who meant everything to her. Jane loved singing and was a band member during her youth. She loved to draw and was a talented artist. Jane loved poetry, which runs in the family. The Holiday Season was special for her. She looked forward to her son-in-law's cooking and the joy of opening presents on Christmas morning. Jane loved animals, especially her dachshunds; Doc and Cookie. This love for animals lives in the heart of her granddaughter, Brooklynne. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren and all their accomplishments. Jane is lovingly survived by her husband of 50 years, SGM Wilfred “Mitch” Mitchell, US Army (Retired); her son, Paul J. Mitchell of San Juan, PR, his former spouse Tracy (Mitchell) Bailey of Fitchburg, MA; her daughters, Tiffany Mitchell-Chaney and her husband Samuel Chaney of Concord, NC; Andrea (Mitchell) Brown and her husband Sheron K. Brown, Sr. of Leominster, MA; her brother, Larry Kuepferle of Greensboro, NC; her grandchildren Xavier Mitchell, Brooklynne Mitchell-Arno, Sheron K. Brown, Jr. Emory Chaney, Azaylia Brown and her great-grandson Liam Mitchell; also survived by her loving nephew who she spoke with daily; Eddie Spanolia of Greensboro, NC; many nieces and nephews of North Carolina and her extended family in Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies.
