James D. Blanchard

Mason, NH – James D. Blanchard, 70, of Mason, NH passed away unexpectedly in his home, on Thursday evening October 17, 2024. Jim was born in Fitchburg, on August 29, 1954, the son of the late David and Jane (Lowe) Blanchard and grew up in Townsend, MA before settling in Mason, NH in 1991. Jim started his career working as a metal fabricator for several years before joining the Townsend Water Department, where he worked until his retirement. In his younger years he was a volunteer firefighter for the Townsend Fire Department, a recent member of the Sons of the American Legion in Wilton, NH, and a past member of the Townsend VFW’s Men’s Auxiliary. He is the son of the late “Townsend Waver”. Jim loved spending time with his family more than anything. He looked forward to the yearly family trip to “Daisy” in North Truro. He leaves behind precious memories making many, many well planned trips to Disney. Jim and Denice became avid lovers of Key West Sun Sets. Oceans were a place often spent just gazing out quietly – whether with a morning cup of coffee or a late-night PBR. Although he was not an active participant in “game night” he never failed to make something yummy for all to enjoy. Never let it be forgotten that Jim always enjoyed a great camping adventure with friends. NASCAR was a beloved sport he enjoyed watching as well as attending. He was a true MacGyver, whether it be making a trailer, flagpole, a mickey head pin board for his grandchildren or a fence in his daughter’s yard, he always had a plan. Jim was a reliable, dependable and loving friend. Jim was always there when you needed a helping hand or a good laugh. One of his fondest experiences in life was being a Grampy, he beamed ear to ear when he saw his buddies. He was the most loving husband and best dad one could have. He leaves his wife of 31 years, Denice M. (Brouillette) Blanchard of Mason, NH; his daughter Mycala J. Tyler, and her husband Ethan of Gardner; his three sisters, Diane Bonner of Texas, Linda Lyon of Florida and Joyce Bournival of Maine; two grandchildren, Blakely and Ethan James (EJ) and several nieces and nephews. And lastly, the numerous friends who were like his family, he loved each of them. All are welcome to join in a celebration of Jim’s life to be held at the VFW in Pepperell, MA on Sunday, November 24th from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. JB would want you to always remember … “Theres a great big, beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day.
