Carolyn E. Godley

FITCHBURG- Carolyn (Gordon) Godley, 92, of Fitchburg, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 in the Highlands after a brief illness. She was born in Baldwinville on May 22, 1931, a daughter of the late Sidney, Sr. and Violet (Eyles) Gordon. Carol worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Prime Value Mart and various medical offices until her retirement. Carol and Jim moved to Florida and lived there for many years before moving to Cape Cod, a place she cherished. She was a strong and independent woman who overcame many obstacles. She was a lively person who always looked at the brighter side of life and always enjoyed a great laugh. She had many kind and caring friends and enjoyed playing bingo and Pokeno with her friends at the Joseph House. She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She loved to knit, crochet and cross stitch in her earlier years and enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and the St. Patrick’s Day parades on the Cape. She leaves two sons, Micheal Walker and his wife Kathy of Westminster and Kit Walker and his wife Cindi of Fitchburg; Step children, Sean Godley and his wife Susan of Kansas and Patrick Godley of Fitchburg and Honor Godley of Fitchburg. 10 grandchildren, Jason Walker, Jon Richard, Nathan Buiwit, Kristen Buiwit, Heather Buiwit and Meghan Capone, Robert Godley, Shannon Godley, Raegan Godley and Nathaniel Godley. Nine great-grandchildren, Jason M. Walker, Blake Buiwit, Madison Buiwit, Joseph Puleo, Elyse Puleo, Luke Sicard, Jack Capone, Emma Capone, Jason Kevin Todd and many loving nieces and nephews and cherished family members. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Godley; three brothers, Sidney Gordon, Gayladd Gordon and Arthur Davis and two sisters, Joyce LaDuke and Virginia ”Ginny” Davis. A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, June 14, from 10 to 11AM in the chapel at Christ Church, 509 Main St., Fitchburg.followed by a funeral service 11AM. Burial will follow in the Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. . In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Fitchburg Veterans Council, 14 Wallace Ave., Fitchburg, MA 01420. The Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
