    William B. Fontaine

    January 17, 1938 - September 11, 2021

    LEOMINSTER: William B. Fontaine, 83, of Leominster, formerly of Ashburnham, died Sunday, September 11, 2021 at Sterling Health Care, Sterling after a lengthy illness. Mr. Fontaine was born in Gardner, January 17, 1938 a son of Aldy and Agnes (Rivard) Fontaine and was a 1956 graduate of Gardner High School. For many years Mr. Fontaine worked as the production supervisor for his company, Fontaine Brothers Furniture Inc. in Gardner. More recently he had worked as a driver for Dee Bus Company in Shirley. He also operated his own canvas upholstery company where he repaired boat seats and covers. During the Vietnam Era Mr. Fontaine served his country for four years in the United States Navy. He was an avid boater and was a 30 year member, past Flottila Commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Post 10-3 in Leominster. He enjoyed dining out, going to the movies and the occasional trip to the casino. He leaves his wife of 27 years, Kathleen (Welton) Fontaine; his son, Richard M. Fontaine and his wife Paula of Westminster ; his daughter, Christina L. Flanagan of Leominster; his stepson, Thomas Griffin III and his wife, Kelly of Clermont, FL; step son in law, Tim Hopf of Shirley; seven grandchildren, Michael Fontaine, Jason Fontaine, Meghan Fontaine, Elizabeth Flanagan, Lyle Hopf, Dana Hopf and Brittnee Griffin. He was the brother of the late James Fontaine of Baldwinville, the stepfather of the late Rhonda Hopf of Shirley and the grandfather of the late Adam Hopf. Mr. Fontaine’s family will receive family and friends at a visitation period Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 1PM, Funeral service will follow at 2PM at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte 2A) Ayer.
