FITCHBURG: Teresa M. (Bernard) Leger, 94, a lifelong Fitchburg resident, passed away peacefully Monday, January 31, 2022 at Sterling Village Nursing Home, Sterling, MA. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard P. "Blackie" Leger, who passed in February 2008. Teresa was born in Fitchburg, September 25, 1927 a daughter of Henry and Delia (Adam) Bernard. While raising a family of six girls, Teresa was very involved in the Fitchburg Girl Scout program eventually as Chairman of the Cleghorn District. Later in life she went back to school at Mt Wachusett Community College where she got her GED. Teresa continued to work as a tutor in the Accounting Department for the college. Over the years Teresa was an avid card player, gardener and was on a bowling league for years in addition to spending time with her children, grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Mrs. Leger is survived by four daughters, Paula J. Schmidt and her husband, Bob, of Simpsonville, SC, Susan M. Allardice and her husband, Brien of Leominster, Joan M. O’Malley and her husband, Ray, of Fitchburg, Nancy M. Leger of South Carolina; 11 grandchildren and seventeen greatgrandchildren. She was the mother of the late Paul Leger, Carol A. Picard and Anne M. Leger. She was the sister of the late Edward Bernard of Leominster, Louis Bernard of Westfield, Rita Bryant of Fitchburg and Yvonne Melanson of Port Charlotte, FL and her granddaughter, Andrea Blaine of Belchertown. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Mrs. Leger’s family will receive family and friends at a visitation period from 10 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.
