Robert C. "Zippy" Kohler Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

TOWNSEND- Robert C. “Zippy” Kohler, Sr., 85, passed away in his home, with his loving family by his side, on Sunday January 31, 2021 after a long illness. Robert was born in Canton, OH on August 30, 1935, a son of the late, Louis A. and Blanche G. (Weaver) Kohler. Robert resided in Canton, Oh until 1968, when he moved his family to Littleton and then to Townsend in 1982. He was a U.S. Army veteran and also served in the Army Reserves for a total of 17 years. Robert worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Acton as a letter carrier for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and passionate fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoyed birdwatching, playing cards and spending time with his family. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Betty E. (Chapman) Kohler of Townsend; a son, Robert C. Kohler, Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Townsend, two daughters, Patricia Demars of Gloucester and Hope Cleveland and her fiancé Dana Owen of Shirley; three granddaughters, Jodi Frithsen and her husband Jeffrey of Hamilton, Annie McCall of Ayer and Emily Demars of Gloucester; a grandson, Jacob Demars of Des Moines, IA; two great-granddaughters, Kendall Lyn Plante and Wilder Ann Frithsen; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his brother, William Kohler of Canton, OH. Due to COVID 19 restrictions, a private graveside service will be held in the Hillside Cemetery in Townsend. The T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
