Paul E.F. Morey Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

TOWNSEND - Paul E.F. Morey, Jr., 68, passed away on Sunday morning, May 15, 2022 at his home in Townsend. Paul was born in Laconia, NH. July 6, 1953, eldest son of the late Paul E.F. and Dorothy R. (Moore) Morey. He graduated from North Middlesex Regional High School in 1971 and earned his bachelor’s degree in music education from Westfield State College. Paul spent most of his career as a music teacher and band director, teaching in Leominster at Gallagher Junior High School and Johnny Appleseed Middle School, in Fitchburg at B.F Brown Junior High School and Fitchburg High School, and at the Job Corps in Ayer. After his retirement from teaching, Paul was a bus driver in the Pepperell and Lowell school systems. A talented conductor and trumpet player, Paul played trumpet in the Ashby Band for decades, conducted the Ashby Big Band regularly, and performed in many other local ensembles and stage productions. He was also the Vice President of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 173. He shared his gift with family and performed with his brother, father, and niece. Outside of his musical work, Paul’s favorite thing to do was spend time with the friends he treasured. Paul leaves his brother Richard Morey of Townsend; a sister-in-law, Betty Lou Morey of Greenville, NH; a niece, Jennifer R. Morey of Hillsboro, OR; two aunts, Pauline Ellsworth of Gilford, NH and Lois Chase of Laconia, NH; an uncle, Eugene Moore of Laconia, NH and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by a brother Charles C. Morey of Greenville, NH. In accordance with Paul’s wishes he will be cremated and services will be held privately.
