Margaret B. "Peggy" Jean Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

AYER: Margaret B. “Peggy” (Burrows) Jean, 94, of Ayer, formerly of Westford, died Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Apple Valley Center, Ayer. Her husband of 70 years, Leo J. Jean died in October 2017. Peggy was born in Parsons, Kansas, October 12, 1927, a daughter of Harry and Katie (Poor) Burrows and resided in Westford before moving to Ayer in 1974. She was a graduate of New Franklin (MO) High School. Peggy worked for the United States Post Office in Westford for 20 years, retiring in 1988. She and her husband, Leo, were members and daily communicants at St. Anthony’s Church in Shirley and St. Mary’s Church in Ayer. She also served as a lector at St. Mary’s Church. Peggy leaves two sons and daughters in law, Kenneth L. and Sue Jean of Shirley, Michael M. and Nancy Jean of West Newbury; her daughter and son in law, Kathleen M. and Steve Spofford of Townsend; six grandchildren, Katie Spofford, John Spofford, Sarah Labarre, Kyle Spofford, Danielle Jean, Catherine Jean and five great grandchildren, Stephen Spofford, Charlotte Spofford, Lilyanne Labarre, Kole Labarre and Alexis Tucceri. She was predeceased by her grandson Stephen Spofford and was the sister of the late Mary Reese of OK, Myrtle Coy of MO, Walter Burrows of Australia and Lloyd Willit of KS. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Monday, February 21, 2022 at St. John’s Church, 1 School Street, Townsend. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2-5 PM Sunday, February 20th at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend.
