    Marcel O. Falardeau

    March 30, 1948 - August 16, 2020

    Marcel O. Falardeau, 72 passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 16, 2020, after a brief battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was born March 30, 1948 in Jackman, Maine. The son of Edgar William Falardeau and Marie Laure (Bisson) Falardeau. Marcel attended Forest Hills High School in Jackman, Maine. From there, he enlisted with the United States Air Force at Loring Air Force base in the B52 maintenance squadron. After returning home to Jackman, Marcel met his wife Darlene. They went on to Marry August 25th 1973. Marcel and Darlene relocated to MA to pursue Marcels’ education at East Coast Aeronautical Tech. School, where he graduated with honors. After 11 years employed at Polaroid, he reenlisted with the U.S. Army in 1991 where he obtained his nursing degree, with honors. He retired from the U.S. Army in 2008. Post retirement, Marcel enjoyed working for the town of Groton as a senior van driver until November of 2019. Marcel enjoyed marksmanship, hunting, and was a member of the Fitchburg Rod and Gun club. He had a private pilots license, and took part in civil aviation. Marcel was an avid cyclist and loved long rides on his motorcycle with friends and family. In retirement, Marcel enjoyed family time, dinners out, and nights at the movies where he stole the salt shaker to enjoy his popcorn. He shared his love of flashlights with his Grandchildren. Marcel was predeceased by his parents Edgar and Marie Falardeau, as well as his brother Gerard Falardeau. Marcel leaves behind his wife of 48 years Darlene Bartley Falardeau of Townsend, his three children, daughter Leah (Falardeau) Jacobs and husband Richard of Lunenburg, sons Aaron Falardeau and significant other Maira of Lunenburg; and Chad Falardeau and significant other Laura of Groton. Marcel was very proud to be “Pere” to his Grandchildren: Liliana Falardeau, Addison Jacobs, Quinnten Jacobs, Asher Jacobs, Tanner Jacobs, Gauge Falardeau and soon to be baby Falardeau. Marcel leaves his siblings, Richard and his wife Margie of Rochester NH., Prudence and her husband Richard of Madison, Maine, Susan of Waterville, Maine and Lori and her husband Danny of Jackman, Maine as well as many extended family and close friends. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon at a later date. “ Call me when you get home “
