    Lionel James 'Jim' Picard, Jr.

    May 3, 1955 - December 4, 2021

TOWNSEND - Lionel James ‘Jim’ Picard, Jr., 66 of Townsend, passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Born in Badtconstatt, Germany where his father was stationed on May 3, 1955, Jim was one of 3 children, born to the late Lionel J. and Phyllis H. (Levecque) Picard. He was a very devoted father and husband who always put his family first. During his youth, Jim developed a passion for collecting comic books, thanks to his father who gave him his first one in 1965. In addition to this passion, Jim was an avid sportsman and incredible baseball player, who played at Boston College before being drafted to the St. Louis Cardinals. After retirement, he continued his love for sports as a coach for both of his daughter’s TAP and AAU basketball teams, and Pop Warner Football for his sons. Jim also was an avid New England Sports fan. He worked for Lantheus Medical Imaging, a pharmaceutical company which he devoted himself to for 39 years. While at the company, everyone who worked with Jim looked up to him; and went to him for guidance. A fantastic man, Jim will always be remembered for his fun-loving wittiness and his uncontrollable laugh. He was such a kind person who left a lasting impression on every life he touched. Jim is lovingly survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra Rose (Fischer) Picard; his sons, Stephen Picard and his 2 children; Christopher Picard and his wife Jamie Howson; his daughters, Devon Picard and Erin Picard, all of Townsend; his sister, Judy Lodge and her husband Rick of Sugar Hill, NH; his grandchildren, Liam Lionel Picard and Cole Picard; also survived by his nephew Matthew Becker of Lebanon, ME and niece Katie Manita of Sugar Hill, NH. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 4-7 p.m in Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer. Jim’s graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 6 Bishop Road, Ayer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to The Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation For Autism or The Jimmy Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer, MA 01432. For additional information or for online condolences, please visit, www.andersonfuneral.com.
