    Joseph Stojak

    June 9, 1949 - January 18, 2022

SHIRLEY: Joseph Stojak, 72, of Shirley, died unexpectedly Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer. Mr. Stojak was born in New Bedford, June 9, 1949, the son of Joseph F. Stojak and Doris (Lake) Stojak Pimental and resided much of his life in the Ayer-Shirley area. During the Vietnam era Mr. Stojak served his country for six years in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from the armed services he continued to work as a civilian employee at Fort Devens and later at Fort Huachuca, Arizona before retiring in 2004 and returning to Shirley. He leaves his wife of 48 years, Sang Sun Stojak; his son, Joe Stojak and daughter in law, Vany Stojak of El Paso, TX; his daughter, Starr S. Hamilton, and son in law, Christopher Hamilton with whom he resided in Shirley; his sister, Cheryl Dawson, and brother in law, Daniel Dawson of Assonet; seven grandchildren, Anthony Hamilton, Kyler Hamilton, Jaden Hamilton, Devon Stojak, Mariah Stojak, Jennifer Stojak, Mercedes Stojak, a great grandchild, Haylie Hamilton, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Knickerbocker of New Bedford. Joe enjoyed fishing, playing darts, horseshoes, playing cards (BAM!), and was an accomplished billiards player. He loved watching the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots with his family. He was known for his jovial greetings and witty humor, as he loved to make people laugh. At home he often shared his love of sweets with his signature offerings of the latest grocery goodie purchase and was known to make sure everyone at the dinner table had enough food. He was an avid animal lover and was a member of the MSPCA, as well as a member of the VFW in Arizona and the Shirley American Legion Post. His fun loving spirit will be missed dearly by all. Mr. Stojak’s family will receive family and friends at a visitation period Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 11 AM – 11:30 AM at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd. (Rte. 2A) Ayer. A time of reflection and remembrance will be offered at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery, Winchendon.
