John F. Arsenault

John F. Arsenault, 66, of Westminster, MA, passed away peacefully on January 27, 2025, with his wife and son at his side. John was born on November 1, 1958 to Francis and Santina (Grossi) Arsenault in Fitchburg, MA. John shared the same birthday as his mother, something he cherished. John was a graduate of Fitchburg High School in 1976. He dedicated many years to Cleghorn Oil, serving in various roles before transitioning to operations at Aggregate Industries and later, Altec. A devoted community member, he also volunteered as Cub Master for the Cub Scouts in Westminster. John had a deep love for exploring New England, especially during the fall. He often traveled with friends, making frequent trips to New Hampshire, where one of his favorite traditions was visiting the bear show at Clark’s Trading Post—a special place he shared with both his son and grandsons. A bourbon enthusiast, John enjoyed sipping a drink collected from his travels, whether by the fire or while cheering on the Patriots. He was also a contributor to Find a Grave, enjoying walks through historic graveyards. Retiring in 2021, he cherished his time with family, making pizza dough from scratch, going out for ice cream, playing with his grandsons, and helping his son with home projects. Being dubbed “Papa Safety”, all adults, children and activities were made to be OSHA compliant whenever John supervised. John was predeceased by his parents Santina and Francis; his eldest brother, David Arsenault, mother-in-law Patricia Nelson and brother-in-law Peter Nelson. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Vicki (Nelson) Arsenault; his son, Brendan, and his wife, Tiffany. His true pride and joy were his grandsons, Lincoln and Hunter Arsenault—there was nothing Grampy wouldn’t do for them. He leaves behind his brother, Michael Arsenault; brothers-in-law, Barry Nelson and Michael Nelson and his wife, Daniela; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Nelson, and her fiancé, Gary Clark. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Christine Arsenault and her partner, Doug Prentice; Shane Arsenault and his wife, Elizabeth; Andrew Arsenault; father-in-law Ronald Nelson, Justin Nelson; Emily Nelson; Nicholas Nelson and his wife, Maggie; Erin Nelson; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John’s name be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization John felt strongly about.
