    Jean C. Stewart

    August 21, 1932 - March 25, 2020

SHIRLEY: Jean Stewart was born in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Bessie (Grady) and Willie L. Davis on August 21, 1932. She was the youngest of three, preceded in life and death by her sister, Lura Davis and brother, Willie Davis. In August of 1947,Jean married her husband, Marvell Stewart, and to this union, they had five children: the late Marva Sloan. Alvin (Sarah) Stewart, Jeri (Joe) Nelson, Jacquelyn Ghee, and Michele Fletcher. With Marvell serving in the United States Army, Jean and the family traveled around the world, eventually being stationed at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts and settling in Shirley, Massachusetts in 1963. She became the president of RAFA and ran many different events. Jean was an exceptional seamstress and was employed at Devens Cleaners and later, American Tailors right outside of the base. She retired at the age of seventy-five. Jean enjoyed traveling and being with her family and friends. You could often find Jean socializing or working on a word/number puzzle. She was an avid church-goer and loved to play her favorite gospel music in her home. Jean loved her family and spent the last few years of life being cared for by her granddaughter, Tammala Delosh (Terry). To cherish her memory and legacy, Jean leaves behind: her grandchildren, Arlisa (Gerald), Terrence (Eustacia), Ken Anthony, Andrea (Melissa), Dean and Charles (Kathy): several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren: and may other relatives and friends. Interment will be in Village Cemetery, Shirley on Monday June 29, 2020 at 1:30pm. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd. Ayer assisted the family with arrangements.
