Irene M. (Forget) Cheries Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

ASHBURNHAM - Irene M. (Forget) Cheries, 86, of Ashburnham, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 2, 2022, in the Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gardner. Irene was born in Fitchburg, a daughter of the late Adrien and Marie Rose (Deschenes) Forget and has resided in Ashburnham since 1967. She attended St. Bernard’s High School in Fitchburg and would later earn her associates degree from Mt. Wachusett Community College in Gardner. Irene worked for several years at the Babineau Insurance Company in Fitchburg. She also held a Real Estate license. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bingo, and the occasional trip to the Casino. You could always find her knitting a granny square blanket for someone or reading a good book. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a special Aunt and Great-Aunt to so many of her nieces and nephews. Irene leaves her husband of 67 years, Paul Cheries of Ashburnham; a brother, Leo Forget of Fitchburg and numerous nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her brothers, Marcel Forget, Camille Forget, and Albert Forget and her sisters, Gabrielle Leger and Adrienne Desroches. In accordance with Irene’s wishes she will be cremated and buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Fitchburg with no formal services.
