Edwin O. Rauhala

New Ipswich, NH: Edwin O. Rauhala, 74, of New Ipswich, NH, formerly of Townsend, died Tuesday, March 8, 2022 Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH. Ed was born in Fitchburg, on January 4, 1948. Son of Isaac O. and Ellen V. (Pulkkinen) Rauhala and has resided in New Ipswich for 14 years. He grew up in Townsend and was a 1966 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School. For nearly 40 years Ed worked as a truck driver at San-Vel Corp in Littleton, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 170. He had a lifelong interest in the agriculture industry. He enjoyed attending car shows at Kimball Farm and organizing family get togethers. Ed leaves his son, Erik M. Rauhala of Leominster; two daughters, Sarah E. DiBenedetto of Billerica, Lisa B. Rauhala of Townsend; his brother, Atty. Gene A. Rauhala of Townsend; his sister, Virginia I. Spinney of Townsend; his former wife, Mary Ellen (Morton) Kerwood of Townsend and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter as well as several beloved family members. Ed was not one to draw attention to himself and as such did not wish to have funeral services. However, he did love a good story so his family welcomes the celebration of his life through shared memories. Funeral services will be held privately. The Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, (Rte 119) Townsend Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
