Barbara M. (Harmon) Alderman

AYER: Barbara M. (Harmon) Alderman, 88, of Ayer, died Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer. Barbara was born in Ayer, April 22, 1933, a daughter of Frank C. and Alice E. (Rand) Harmon and resided in Ayer for much of her life. She was a 1950 graduate of Ayer High School and continued her education at Salem State College, Salem. For over 20 years Barbara taught Business classes at Ayer High School before her retirement in 1991. She had been a member of the former Federated Church of Ayer. She leaves her son, Nat Alderman of Pepperell; two daughters, Cynthia J. Corbett of Scottsdale, AZ, Karen Alderman of Ayer; her brother, Frank Harmon of Ayer; three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Richard N. Rakip of Ayer who died 2013. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, (Rte. 2A) Ayer. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Ayer. Barbara’s family will receive family and friends at calling hours 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
