Agnes U. (Gionet) Howlett Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

SHIRLEY: Agnes U. (Gionet) Howlett, 95, of Shirley died Saturday, January 30, 2021 at her home. Her husband, Joseph J. Howlett, died in 2008. Agnes was born in Shirley, December 4, 1925, one of 17 children born to William M. and Ursule (Gionet) Gionet and was a lifelong Shirley resident. Mrs. Howlett had worked many years as a waitress in the Executive Dining Room at Foster Grant Company in Leominster. Prior to that she worked as the head waitress at the Officers Club at Fort Devens. In her younger years, Agnes shined on the dance floor and was always ready to have a good time. She enjoyed traveling and spent time in Tahiti, and throughout Europe. In later years, Agnes split her time between Schoodic Lake in Maine and Ormond-by-the-Sea in Florida, but always loved to return to her home in Shirley. Agnes had a special talent for finding many four-leaf clovers. She was happiest while spending time with family and also enjoyed quilting, playing cards and reading. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church as well as a member of the Shirley American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, J. Howlett II and his wife, Susan, William M. Howlett all of Shirley; her brother, Alexandre Gionet of Wells, Maine; three grandchildren, Natalie Andrews, Morgan Howlett, Evan Howlett; five great grandchildren, Acadia Andrews, Oliver Andrews, Jayde Howlett, Jaslyn Howlett and Ryleigh Howlett; and many nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Cole Howlett of Lunenburg who died in 2018. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 Am Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Anthony’s Church 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Road, Ayer is assisting the family with arrangements.
