Yvette Marie Alice Mills

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvette Marie Alice (Letourneau) Mills, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world peacefully at home on September 5, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. Born on April 19, 1940, in Fitchburg, MA, Yvette was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her 86 years of life. Yvette was the cherished daughter of Alexandre and Marie Alice (Dionne) Letourneau, who predeceased her. She was also preceded in death by her dear husband, Charles R. Mills, and her son, Paul C. Mills. Despite these losses, Yvette's spirit remained resilient and full of grace, qualities that she passed on to her surviving family members. She leaves behind her devoted son, John Mills; her friend and daughter in-law, Karen Mills. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Samantha, married to Shane Boucher, along with their children, Adrianna and Trevor Boucher; grandson Nathan, who shares his life with his wife Alex Mills; and granddaughter Cara Lombard and her family. Yvette's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was their biggest supporter, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on in their endeavors. A proud graduate of St. Bernards High School, Yvette dedicated her early career to nurturing young minds as a lunch lady, a role she enjoyed while her children were in school. Later, she utilized her organizational skills as a bookkeeper and secretary, where her attention to detail and commitment were highly valued. Yvette was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Church, where she was known not only for her faith but for her unwavering support of the community. Her life was a testament to her love for Jesus, and her actions reflected her deep faith and compassion for others. Her hobbies included reading, dancing, and enjoying the serenity of the beach, but above all, Yvette loved spending time with family and friends. Her presence brought warmth and laughter, and her wit and charm left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Yvette's strength and stubborn determination saw her through life's challenges, and she approached each day with a smile and a heart full of love. In honor of Yvette's courageous battle with lung cancer, her family kindly requests that donations be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, an organization that provided her with exceptional care. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Barbie and her care team at Dana Farber, as well as Beacon Hospice, for their compassionate support in fulfilling Yvette's final wishes to remain at home. Yvette was a true pillar of strength for her family and friends, a guiding light that will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved her. As we celebrate her life, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, laughter and kindness will endure, inspiring those who knew her to live with the same grace, sass and courage she exemplified each day. Calling hours will be held in the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg on Thursday, September 10, from 4-7pm. The funeral Mass will be held in Saint Joseph Church, 46 Woodland St., followed by burial in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
