Winifred "Winnie" L. Barrett

Fitchburg – Winifred L. “Winnie” (Morin) Barrett, 87, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026 in Sterling Village surrounded by her loving family. Winnie was born in Fitchburg, MA on February 5, 1939, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Anita (Derosier) Morin. She was a graduate of Fitchburg High School, Class of 1957. Winnie was a strong and fiercely independent single mother almost before that phrase existed. She excelled in both her professional and personal life, supporting herself and her family by becoming a local Tupperware icon for 25 years creating “Winnie’s Warriors”, while raising her two children before retiring in 1995. She then put her amazing self-taught business acumen to use in a 2nd career with JCPenney, where she remained until 2007. One of her many legacies is that the house she bought on her own, in the 60’s and raised her own children in, has become the family homestead, now owned by her grandson and her great-grandson, Liam, who says he is “very thankful for having such a lovely house from his great-grammy”. No matter how full her professional life was, Winnie always took time to find great joy in being close to nature, whether gardening and tending her beautiful flower gardens and Koi pond at home or her many memorable summers at Camp Wakeda on the New Hampshire seacoast, then later at Matunuck Beach in Rhode Island, Winnie loved being by the ocean. But most of all, Winnie loved her friends and family and treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Winnie is survived by her two children, Todd (Ted) Barrett and wife Cheri of CT, Wendy FitzPatrick and husband Peter of Lancaster; grandchildren, Kristin Glenny and husband Nate, Jonathan Glover and wife Michelle, and Adam Barrett; great grandchildren, Liam, Jon Jr., Jayden, Hendrix, Legend, Madison, and Caidence. She is also survived by her sister Lynda Caci of Bellingham and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers Kenneth and Donald Morin. A calling hour will be held in the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg on Thursday, March 26, from 10-11am. The funeral service will begin at 11am, followed by burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
