Stephen P. Visconti

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen (Steve) Visconti, age 58, of Townsend, Massachusetts, who died on Friday, August 1, 2025. Stephen was born on January 21, 1967, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Donald and Jeanne Visconti. A gifted and dedicated engineer, he was known for his sharp mind and unwavering work ethic. Steve could explain an engine from top to bottom and was widely admired as a master problem solver — someone who could fix just about anything, often in the most creative ways. Stephen was a free spirit with a generous heart. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, always without hesitation. He had an undeniable passion for music, often playing it at full volume, filling his home or his truck with sound and energy that you could feel. He also had a strong connection to the outdoors, finding beauty in nature wherever he went. Whether he was growing flowers, exploring local streams, or sharing his favorite peaceful spots, he found joy in the world around him. He was always looking for ways to make the people around him smile. His kindness, strength, creativity, and brilliant mind left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Stephen’s family and friends take comfort in the belief that he is now at peace in God’s care, surrounded by the same love and light he gave so freely in life. Stephen is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth (Liz) Karam, and her husband Timothy; his beloved grandson, Adam Hartmann; his parents, Jeanne and Donald Visconti of Townsend; his sister, Kerin O’Grady, and her husband Daniel of Townsend; his brother, Michael Visconti, and his wife Christine of Ashburnham. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply. A funeral Mass will be held on August 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Parish, 1400 Main St., Leominster, MA 01453. Prayers of committal and burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Highland Street, Townsend, MA 01469. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephen’s memory to Rawkstars, a Massachusetts nonprofit that provides free music education and instruments to youth in need — a cause that reflects his lifelong love for music and his generous spirit.
