Sandra M. (Lappi) McClure Ouellette

WESTMINSTER - Sandra M. (Lappi) McClure Ouellette, 78 , passed away on July 9, 2023 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born in Fitchburg on June 26, 1945 in the former Lucy Helen Hospital, the daughter of William T. and Elvi (Haapanen) Lappi. Sandra lived in the Fitchburg area most of her life, moving to Westminster in 1997. She graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1963. She co-owned and operated Action Moving & Storage, Inc. located in Leominster from 1973-1983, where she worked as office manager. She later worked as an administrative assistant for several area businesses, including the North Central Mass. Chamber of Commerce, J.D. Associates of Leominster, ARC of Fitchburg, and upon her retirement in 2004, she was the administrative assistant to the director of the practical nursing program at Monty Tech in Fitchburg. Sandra was a member of the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, which later merged with Emanuel Lutheran Church of Fitchburg. She was a 23 year member of the Finnish organization Ladies of Kaleva of Fitchburg, where she held all offices. She was a member of the Westminster Historical Society and had been a literacy volunteer in Fitchburg. She held a MA real estate license for several years, as well as a certification for interior décor. Sandra enjoyed a lifetime of swimming and boating at the Kaleva Camp on Fort Pond in Lancaster and later on Wyman’s Pond in Westminster. Upon retirement, she and her husband spent several winters at their condo in Pawley’s Island, SC. Sandra enjoyed home interior decorating, antique flea markets, gardening, reading and traveling. She had a deep empathy for animals and their welfare. Sandra was a friendly person with a good sense of humor and a smile for everyone. She is survived by her husband of 24years, Andre J. A. Ouellette; son Marc McClure of Fitchburg and grandchildren Clay and Devin McClure; several cousins, Warren Mickson and wife Sandra of Fitchburg and their daughters Rebecca Edmands of Lunenburg and godchild Heather Rowley of Townsend; Eric Haapanen and his wife Sally of Springfield and Linda Johnson of Fitchburg; Sandra’s step-children, William Ouellette and his wife Lori and their children, Billy, Ryan and his wife Micayla and Jenna of Templeton and Stephen Ouellette and his wife Kayley and their daughters Alexandra, Amelia, and Anabella; Joyce Leite and her husband George and their sons Joe and Joshua of Leominster, and Michael Ouellette of Templeton. She also leaves her lifelong friend Laila (Hill) Salo and several caring and supportive friends. Last but not least, her beloved dog Kati. A calling hour will be held in the Isabelle and Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg on Saturday, July 15 from 10-11:30am, A service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30.
