Sandra J. (Guarnotta) Gordon, formerly of Townsend

LEOMINSTER: Sandra J. (Guarnotta) Gordon, 69, a former longtime Townsend resident died February 26, 2025 at UMass Memorial Health Alliance – Leominster Hospital. Sandra was born in Boston, September 16, 1955, a daughter of the late Anthony and Judith (Whitney) Guarnotta and was a graduate of South Boston High School. Sandra had resided in Woburn before moving to Townsend in 1995 where she lived for about 20 years before finally moving to Leominster. Sandra battled a lifelong illness of kidney disease as well as other health challenges that had increased as of late, and yet she never complained. She was diagnosed with Glomerulonephritis in 1972, which is an acute inflammation of the kidneys. She first began dialysis in April 1975. Through the years she had 3 kidney transplants (1975, 1985, and 2013). Two of the transplants were from her siblings, Mary and Donald. Her body rejected her last transplanted kidney in 2017, and she had been on dialysis since. However, Sandra’s passing was brought on by respiratory/cardiac arrest. Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family at their summer cottage along the Nissitissit River in Pepperell. This was her favorite place to spend every summer. Due to illness, she was often not able to travel far, so retreating to this quiet spot in the woods was priceless. She enjoyed cooking for everyone, and she would make sure you never left hungry. She was an avid coffee lover, and you’d better make sure it was nice and hot. Music was a great source of inspiration to help her get through some very tough times. She also had a passion for writing, and she was great at it. Sandra made a lot of special friends over the years in churches as well as in all of her dialysis units, and they became like family. Sandra loved God with all of her heart, and has been an active member of the Bread of Life Church in Westminster for the past 20+ years. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Scott D. Gordon; two sons, Andrew S. Gordon and his wife Carolyn, of Pepperell, Brett A. Gordon and his wife Carmen, of Townsend; three daughters, Andrea J. Baldassari and her husband Derek, of Webster, Amy L. Gordon of Leominster, Ashley A. Caiazzo of Ayer; her brother, Donald A. Guarnotta of S. Boston, two sisters, Deanna Cusack of S. Boston and her husband Tom, Mary Biritteri of Revere and her fiance, Bob; nine grandchildren, Landon Caiazzo, Toriana Baldassari, Jaden Gordon-Cardoos, Erianna Gordon, Elianna Arias, Jalissia Gordon, Mateo Ortiz, Anastasia Gordon, Brett A. Gordon, Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
