Samantha J. Almy

Samantha J. (Shea) Almy, 53, passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2023 at her home in Naples, Florida. Sam was born on September 6, 1969, in Leominster, the daughter of the late Jean (Thomasian) Otis. She graduated from Ayer High School in 1987 and received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University in 1991. She would later receive her MBA from Boston University. Until her retirement in 2021, Sam was a certified public accountant and worked as a Senior Vice President at Fidelity Investments. She was excited to retire but missed many of her coworkers that she considered great friends. After working hard for many years, she was able to dedicate more time to the things she loved – spending time with family and friends, playing tennis and pickleball, taking art classes, and going to the beach. Upon her retirement, she spent much of her time designing and planning her dream home in Naples. The house, which is nearly complete, is stunningly beautiful. Her hard work and attention to detail is evident throughout the home. Sam was an amazing mom and always looked forward to the opportunity to spoil her daughters with nice meals, visits to the beach, and pool days whenever they were in Naples. She was an amazing role model and instilled both her daughters with the mindset that hard work pays off. Her oldest daughter, Alexis, is now following in her footsteps at Fidelity Investments and has connected with many of her moms’ past friends. Her younger daughter, Olivia, has the same love for STEM that her mom had and just finished her freshman year of college. Sam passed on her passion and incredible talent in playing tennis to her girls. They both went on to win National Championships their freshman year of college with their mom cheering them on every step of the way. Sam enjoyed time with her father, Dick, who was always cooking up something amazing for the whole family to enjoy. She would often rave about how it is better than eating at a restaurant. Sam was also an incredibly loving and devoted wife to her husband, Sean. They loved going out to eat with each other and scouting out the best bars for happy hour. They spent much of their time together and enjoyed spoiling their bernedoodle, Archie, with trips to the dog park, walks around the neighborhood, and giving him bites of every meal they had. Sam made it a priority to frequently tell the important people in her life, “I hope you at least know how much I love you.” It was not enough for her to just love us, she needed to know we felt it deeply and believe me, we did. Endlessly. We know you would not want us to feel sorry for you or ourselves and would instead want us to go on to live happy lives filled with love. We will try our hardest to move forward with love and create lives that you would be proud of. We will continue to love and miss you more than you will ever know. You are forever in our hearts. We will see you again in time. Sam is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, Sean Almy; her two loving daughters, Alexis Almy and Olivia Almy; her father, Richard Otis; her dog, Archie; two cats, Bailey and Gracie; grand-dog, Willow. The Anderson Funeral Home, 25 Fitchburg Rd., Ayer is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements which will be held privately.
