Norma L. (Leger) Goguen, of Fitchburg

FITCHBURG: Norma L. (Leger) Goguen, 88, known as "Mimi" to the grandchildren who adored her, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, November 6, 2025, at Sunrise of Leominster, surrounded by her three devoted daughters. Born in Fitchburg on August 16, 1937, Norma was the daughter of Medley and Flora (LeBlanc) Leger and attended St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School. She was the beloved wife of Chester J. "Chet" Goguen, with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in April 2016. Norma lived with unmistakable zest—her smile could light up any room, and her warmth drew people in effortlessly. She found joy in life's simple pleasures: singing, bowling, reading, gardening, ceramics, and crocheting. With Chet, she traveled widely, making homes in Destin, Florida; Cape Cod; Wells, Maine; and Lake Monomonac—each place holding treasured memories of family gatherings and friendship. But her greatest joy was always her family. Christmas gatherings making poutines together, playing games around the table, girls' weekends, camping trips, and bus adventures—these were the moments she lived for, greeting each one with humor, grace, and that signature sparkle in her eye. She leaves her cherished daughters: Tamela A. Cormier and her husband Doug of Fitchburg, Leslie A. Lee and her husband David of Ashburnham, and Andrea M. Brideau and her husband Stephen of Wells, Maine. She was the loving grandmother of Timothy Cormier, Jacob, Jessica and Rebecca Lee, Jameson and Shaelyn Brideau—and proud great-grandmother of Ava, John, and Allison Cormier. She was predeceased by her beautiful granddaughter Rachel in 2008. She was also predeceased by her siblings Janet (Leo) LeBlanc, Loretta (Edmund) Ouellette, and Walter (Judith) Leger, all of Fitchburg. The family would like to thank all of Norma’s caregivers, especially the French Connection, the staff at Sunrise, and Health Alliance Hospice, for their compassionate care.
