Marie A. (Amoroso) Davis, 75, of Portland, ME, former longtime resident of Harvard, MA, passed away on June 29, 2023, in Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. Marie was born in Cambridge, MA, on June 6, 1948, daughter of the late Joseph “Babe” A. and Esther D. (D’Arrigo) Amoroso, graduating from St. Peter’s High School in 1966. She leaves her husband, Bunker L. Davis of Portland, ME; two sons, Oliver R. Davis (Kellie J. Irving) of Cumberland, ME, and Benjamin B. Davis (Amanda K. Schuman) of Oceanside, CA; a daughter, Esther M. Davis of Acton, MA; a brother, Joseph A. Amoroso, Jr. (Donna) of Cambridge, MA; two sisters, Janice T. Martin (John) of North Reading, MA, and Patricia L. Amoroso (James T. McAlpine) of Cambridge, MA; four grandchildren, Eli Irving-Davis, Dahlia Irving-Davis, Desmond Davis, and Maxwell Davis; nephew Jeffrey Martin (Nicole); nieces Andrea Gottschalk (Raymond) and Christina Casey (Reed); great nieces Taney and Sarah Martin; and great nephew Alexander Gottschalk. Marie was the ultimate caretaker, and loved nothing more than helping support her family, friends, and neighbors. She was a devout parishioner of St. Theresa’s Church in Harvard, MA, where she was a CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister. Her sense of service to her community extended to many organizations that she joined; she was an active member of The Harvard Woman’s Club and was very proud of her time serving as President. While in The Harvard Woman’s Club, she also chaired the Veteran’s Committee and was passionate about providing support and assistance to all veterans. Marie adored attending community events together with Bunker and her friends and enjoyed being anywhere her loved ones were gathering, especially holidays and birthdays. Her home gardens were extensive, and Marie relished the time spent taking care of her perennial beds, tending her flowers and plants in the same way she tended to her people—with love, light, and lots of conversation. Her smile, everlasting sense of hope, and zest for life leaves a legacy that will not soon be forgotten. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, 15 Still River Rd., Harvard, MA. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery in Harvard, MA. A calling hour (10–11 a.m.) in the church will be held on Friday morning prior to the Mass.
