Lorraine Misner, 78, of Townsend

TOWNSEND; Lorraine Misner, 78, of Townsend died unexpectedly Saturday, July 4,2026 at her home. Lorraine was born in Fitchburg, June 24, 1948, one of four children born to Cedric W. and Pearl E. (Hallisey) Misner and was a lifelong Townsend resident. Lorraine was a 1966 graduate of North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend. She continued her education at Fitchburg State College and later received her Masters Degree in Medical Technology from Anna Maria College in Paxton. Lorraine held several positions in her career including Lab Technician at Leominster Hospital in Leominster as well as Computer Service Desk Support Positions. Lorraine was recognized by Who’s Who by Albert Marquis and received a lifetime achievement award for her work in the Medical Technology Industry. She retired in 2015. Lorraine was a lifelong active member of the Townsend Congregational Church. She was a member of its choir and hand bell group for over 60 years. She served as the church sexton for many years attending to the altar cloths, hymnal boards and church candles. She always made sure the windows and doors were properly secured. Additionally, Lorraine remained busy assisting with the church raffles, holiday fairs and church dinners. She enjoyed bus trips and watching the Boston sports teams and spending time with her friends. She enjoyed attending the Hot Air Balloon Festival and walked in the Relay for Life with the team from the church. An accomplished musician, Lorraine played the flute, piccolo, piano and organ. She was a member of the Mountain Valley Cloggers and played in the Townsend Military Band. Lorraine leaves her sister, Jane E. Misner of Townsend; her brother, James R. Misner of Townsend and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard Misner of Fitchburg who died in 1993. Lorraine’s funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, July 16, 2026 at the Townsend Congregational Church, 3 Brookline Street, Townsend. Internment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Townsend. Lorraine’s family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service in the church. The Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
