Kathleen M. "Kassie" Pinard

LUNENBURG: After a courageous two year long battle with cancer, Kathleen M. “Kassie” (Scales) Pinard, 56, of Lunenburg, formerly of Leominster, Ayer, and Shirley, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband and children. Born on November 11, 1967, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, Kassie was the cherished daughter of Rosemary (Devine) Scales and the late Donald B. Scales. A proud 1985 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School, Kassie continued her education at Bay State College in Boston, where she majored in Retail Management. Her spirit shone brightly as she co-owned and operated Pinard's Florist Shop in Ayer for nearly three decades. Through her floral creations and warm presence, Kassie brought boundless joy and touched the hearts of the community, leaving a lasting legacy of beauty and kindness. Before her time at Pinard's Florist, Kassie excelled as an Area Manager for the Fashion Bug Corporation, skillfully overseeing twelve stores across New England. Her leadership and dedication were evident in every store she managed. Kassie was deeply involved in her community and faith. She was a committed member of the Bernardian Foundation, serving as treasurer and contributing her time and talents to support the foundation’s mission. At St. Anthony’s Church in Shirley, Kassie was a beloved CCD teacher for over a decade, nurturing the spiritual growth of many young minds with her unwavering dedication. In addition to her mother, Kassie leaves behind her devoted husband of 34 years, Mark A. Pinard; her treasured children, whom she lovingly called her “jewels on earth”: eldest daughter Jillian E. Valeri and her husband Domenic Valeri of Leominster, Elizabeth K. “Betsy” Rivera and her husband Elian Rivera of Ayer, and her youngest, Jonathan M. Pinard of Lunenburg. She is also survived by her two beloved brothers, Brian D. Scales and his wife Lea Ann of Holden, and Michael P. Scales and his wife Lynne of New Ipswich, NH. Kassie’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, August 26, 2024, at St. Anthony's Church, 14 Phoenix Street, Shirley. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Ayer.
