Gloria J. (McCready) Murray

Townsend – Gloria J. (McCready) Murray, 83, of Townsend and The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born in Lowell, MA on June 7, 1943, one of three children born to the late Douglas “Mac” and Dorothy (Asselin) McCready. Gloria graduated from Lowell High School and married her beloved husband Larry F. Murray in Kassel, Germany, September 1965. Gloria earned her certificate from the Lowell Academy of Hairdressing. She built a long and fulfilling career as a beautician, working at several salons throughout the years before concluding her career at It's Finally Hair in Fitchburg. Earlier in her working life, Gloria worked at the Fay Club in Fitchburg, where her lifelong love of the game of Bridge became one of her proudest moments. Known for her extensive knowledge and skill, she was honored to step in and play with the men's Bridge club. Gloria and Larry, along with their circle of friends, opened up their homes for monthly Bridge group. Gloria was also employed at the Green Ridge Turkey Farm in Nashua, a beloved local landmark. She truly enjoyed welcoming the many visitors who traveled to dine at the restaurant. Her natural gift for hospitality led her to a position at the Sheraton Tara Hotel in Nashua, where she poured her heart and soul into her work as the Facilitator of the Hospitality Division. While living in Florida, she also worked as an administrative assistant for the Bluegreen Group in Boca Raton, FL. After retirement, Gloria traveled, enjoyed her hot New England lobster rolls and her continued love for James Taylor music. Beyond her career, Gloria found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted and beloved Wife, Mom, Grammie, and RaRa. As the proud wife of a military serviceman, Gloria faithfully supported her husband's career with grace and patriotism. She was an active member of the Officers' Wives Club where she enjoyed the friendships she created. For more than 40 years, Gloria looked forward to annual family summer vacations in North Conway, New Hampshire, a tradition her family will continue. She is survived by her children, Kimberly Rowley and her husband James, Keith Murray, Kara Murray, and Katrina Murray-Damiano and her husband Evan; grandchildren, Ashlee and Bryanna Rowley, Zachary Davis and his wife Denisse, Madison Davis and Everly Damiano; brother in law Clarence “CJ” Clark; sister in law Blanche McCready; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends in both Massachusetts and Florida, that were so dear to her. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Larry F. Murray on May 20, 2026; her sister Sheila Clark and her brother Robert McCready. Gloria and Larry; once united in life, now united in eternity. Calling hours for both Gloria and Larry will be held on Thursday, August 6, from 4-7pm in the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend, MA 01469. Burial in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscowan, NH will be held on Friday, August 7, at 1:00pm.
