Dorothy Marie DiConza

FITCHBURG: Dorothy Marie "Dottie" DiConza, 87, passed away at her home in Fitchburg surrounded by her loving family on December 7th. One of five children, Dottie was born on August 14, 1936 to her parents Frank and Dorothy (Malone) DiConza. Dottie graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1955, and began her lengthy career in banking at Safety Fund National Bank. Always interested in education and self-improvement Dottie advanced from an entry level accounting position to Vice President and Auditor of First Safety Fund Bank dedicating herself to this institution for close to fifty years. Dottie was a long-time member of the Irish American Club in Fitchburg. She generously donated her time and expertise to the Friends of the Fitchburg Public Library where she was recruited to serve as a member of the library board. Dottie held the position of treasurer until she was appointed as a Trustee to the Library Board in the capacity of Treasurer and Chairperson for the Finance Committee until her retirement. Dottie enjoyed life to its fullest. She enjoyed gardening, reading and relaxing at their home in South Dennis, as well as her Fitchburg residence. Family was of utmost priority to Dottie and she delighted in the love, respect and admiration bestowed upon her. Dottie was a die hard fan of all the Boston sports teams and whenever possible attended the various games but would never miss any of their televised events. She is survived by her sister Margaret "Peggy" DiConza with whom she lived and several nieces and nephews including, David DiConza of Fitchburg, Robert DiConza of Englewood, Florida, Susan Clark of Leominster great nieces and nephews Taylor Clark and Nicholas Gray of Leominster, Olivia and Victoria DiConza of Acton and Christopher and Cassandra DiConza of Fitchburg. Dottie was predeceased by her siblings Barbara, Francis and Robert DiConza. The family would like to extend most sincere thanks for the wonderful, professional care provided Dottie by Dr. Robert Babineau, The Oncology Department at Health Alliance, and her caregivers Lucy, Violet, Grace, Gessie and Tammy. The Isabelle Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, in Fitchburg, is handling the arrangements for the family. Calling hours will be from 4:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, December 12. A Mass celebrating Dottie’s life will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday morning, December 13th, at St. Bernard’s Parish at St. Camillus Church, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA., followed by her internment at St. Bernard’s Cemetery.
