Daniel J. Crupi

Townsend – Daniel J. “Danny” Crupi, 71, of Townsend, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2023 at his home. Danny was born on February 18, 1952 in Melrose, MA. He was the son of the late Benedict Crupi who recently passed away in March 2023 at the age of 94, and Jeanne M. (Boylen) Crupi. Danny was raised in Reading, MA and attended Reading Schools, graduating from Reading High School, Class of 1971. He began his career working for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections in 1975, where he worked his way from a Corrections Officer to the rank of Captain upon his retirement. Following his retirement, Danny chose to work in many different positions, including site work, machine operator, and construction. Danny married the love of his life, Connie Cuzzupe in 1976 and had the joy of welcoming two sons into his life. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and papa to his family, who loved him with all their hearts. He loved playing and teaching his two grandchildren Benny and Yena. Gardening was a huge part of Danny’s life; he enjoyed sharing pictures of his amazing gardens and window boxes that he took great pride in. He was an avid collector of Hostas and boasted about his lovely shade garden which was a hobby he enjoyed. In his spare time, Danny could be found carving birds and fish. He loved traveling and was excited to visit his son Dan, a Peace Corps volunteer, in the Philippines in 2006. He visited Ireland and Italy with his family, as well as many vacations to tropical islands. Danny was a huge Patriots fan and as a season ticket holder, he always looked forward to attending games with his sons Dan and Mark and also his many friends. Danny will be remembered for his great sense of humor and the ability to share his amazing stories of his time in corrections. He will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Danny was the beloved husband of 47 years to his wife Connie, who loved him with all her heart; the devoted father to Daniel Crupi and his wife Rebecca of East Boston and Mark Crupi of Marlboro; loving “Papa” to Benedict “Benny” and Yena Crupi. He is also survived by four brothers, Steven Crupi of Dennis, Richard Crupi of East Kingston, NH, Kenneth Crupi and Anthony Crupi, both of Reading; many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
