Claude J. Cormier

Claude Joseph Cormier, 81, of Leominster, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, March 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cape Bald, New Brunswick, Canada on September 29, 1942 and was the son of the late Rheal Cormier and Yolande (Landry) Cormier. He immigrated to the United States in 1957 and has resided in the Fitchburg/Leominster area ever since. Claude retired in 1992 from General Motors in Framingham, where he had worked as an assembler for 30 years. After his retirement, Claude worked a few part time jobs but spent most of his days enjoying time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and siblings. Claude enjoyed sports of all kinds but he loved the Bruins and Patriots the most! Aside from professional sports, Claude (Pepere) rarely missed any event involving his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He would attend all their games, practices and special events. Despite declining physical health, Claude would vist daily with his beloved sisters and brothers. Regardless of his physical limitations, he always managed to get out each day and visit his family. Claude loved to travel, especially to the beach. He enjoyed time in Florida, Canada, Maine, and Cape Cod. He had an RV that he loved to travel around in and also had a place in Florida for many years. Claude was usually traveling with or going to visit family. Claude leaves behind three children, Craig Cormier and his wife Stephanie of Leominster, Christine Lenane and her husband Kevin of Milton and Candice deHorsey of Leominster. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, Bryan Cormier and his wife Brittany, Caitlin Cormier and her fiance Cayce Hackett, Casey Benham and her husband Michael, Molly Lenane and her husband Dan Sbarra, Lucas DeHorsey, Stephen Lenane, Tavish Dehorsey and his partner Alana Ayala, Aislin Dehorsey and her partner Dominic Fusco, Allyson Lenane, Arianna Constant, Joshua Cormier, Cora Cormier and eight great-grandchildren whom he adored. Claude maintained a close relationship with his former wife Judith Soucy of Leominster. Claude also leaves behind his siblings, Marie Lystilla and her late husband Lenny, Jan Pelote and her late husband Earl, Al Cormier, Rhona Fournier and her husband Jim, Victor Cormier and Gloria Cormier. He is predeceased by his sister Rhea Dantini and her late husband Michael. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
