Barbara A. (Sawtelle) Brown

Barbara was born in Concord, New Hampshire on August 31, 1937, to Raymond and Belle Sawtelle. She grew up in West Concord, attended Garrison School, and was a member of the West Congregational Church. She graduated from Concord High School with the Class of 1955. Until recently she would meet monthly with several High School Classmates at the Red Blazer in Concord NH. After graduation she was employed at Blue Cross and Blue Sheild in the Data Processing Department until her marriage to Kenneth (Buddy) Brown of Lunenburg MA in 1964. They had two daughters and bought a house on Hickory Hills Lake in Lunenburg. Buddy operated Brown’s Auto Service in Fitchburg. They spent many years taking their daughters to Equestrian Events to participate in competitions. Buddy passed away in 1989. Barbara spent time volunteering at their daughters’ school activities, serving on the Hickory Hill Association Boad of Directors, The Lunenburg Council on Aging, The Lunenburg Townsend Rotary, The Townsend Bowling League and the Lunenburg Lions Club. When the Grandchildren came along, she spent many years caring them at her home on the lake. As they grew, she could always be found on the sidelines at Football, Lacrosse, Baseball and Cheer. Whatever the Grandkids were doing, she always made sure to be there. Her greatest enjoyment was Family and Friends. She was predeceased by her parents Raymond & Belle Sawtelle, her husband Kenneth Brown, her siblings and their spouses, Dottie & Francis Zimmerman, George & Rose Sawtelle, Verne Sawtelle. Her nieces and nephews, Janice & Mike Cassavaugh, Christos Papazoglou, Susan Whited and her childhood Friend/ Sister-in-law Franny-Tripp Sawtelle- Clapp. She is survived by her beloved daughters & Son-in- laws, Bonnie & Alan Ross of Winchendon and Jodi & Bruce Bosworth of Lunenburg and her “Loved Beyond Words Grandchildren” Tyler Bosworth, Shelby Bosworth, Cameron Mackenzie and his beloved partner Kiana Stevens. Also, her Sister-In-Law Kathy Sawtelle of Rochester NH. She is also Survived by 18 nieces and nephews, Randy Sawtelle, Terri & Jim Brennan, Barry & Chrissy Sawtelle, Scott Sawtelle, Gary & Jane Zimmerman, Glen & Wendy Zimmerman, Gregg & Laura Zimmerman, Joyce & Tom Dumais, Ellie Papazglou, Julie Sawtelle, Steve Krysil and Tanya Aubin. She also leaves behind many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her childhood friend Sylvia (Suojanen) Bailey, her Dah-Dah Sisterhood girls, Pat and Sue of Lunenburg. and her longtime best friends Barbara and Henry Wysk of Ayer, with whom she spent so many years laughing, crying and joking with. Barbara’s funeral service will be held on Friday, May 15, at 11:30 AM in the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend. Her family will receive family and friends in the funeral home prior to the service from 10 to 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lunenburg Council on Aging, checks should be made to the Town of Lunenburg with COA Gift Fund in memo and mailed to, Lunenburg Adult Activity Center, 25 Memorial Drive, Lunenburg, MA 01462, Attn: COA Gift Fund
