Aline M. (Wainwright) Migrants

Aline Margaret (Wainwright) Migrants, beloved Mom and Nana, died peacefully on September 13, 2026, in Ayer, Massachusetts, the town where she was born to her late parents Ralph Waldo and Jeanette Marie (LaPointe) Wainwright and where she lived from the age of three until her death at age ninety-five. Aline was most proud of her dedication to her family and her lifetime of hard work, two passions that were inextricably entwined. She graduated from Ayer High School with honors and immediately went to work at local establishments including the George Frost Company, Fort Devens, and the telephone company. She was married to her husband George E. Migrants, Jr., for thirteen years until his untimely death in 1967. At age 36, Aline was left to raise five children on her own. She first took a job at the Nashoba Community Hospital in Ayer handling medical billing and later became an assistant in the finance department of Digital Equipment Corporation. Her goal was to become a senior executive secretary to better provide for her children, and with much diligence she rose to that position in Digital’s corporate offices, retiring after 27 fulfilling years with the company. Upon retirement, Aline traveled to Portugal, having been to France and England previously, and she returned to working part-time at Nashoba Hospital. She served on the Ayer Finance Committee and volunteered with the school nurse at Ayer Shirley Regional High School. After many years as a working mother and grandmother, she was also finally able to devote her time to caring for her youngest grandchildren. Aline loved her family above all else and was faced with unimaginable loss in 1981 when her oldest son George E. Migrants, III, died at age 24 in a drowning accident. She persevered through the tragedies in her life to support and sustain a large extended family who loved her beyond measure and will miss her terribly. She is survived by her four remaining children, Margaret M. Youmatz (Brian), Kurt W. Migrants (Shelley), Jay D. Migrants (Joanne), and Allison R. Migrants; her eight grandchildren, Heather (Jason), Jason (Julie), George (fiancée Ashley), Derek (Stephanie), David (Ashley), Daniel (Nia), William, and Rick (Edith); and her six great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jameson, Jacob, Lainey, Mikayla, and Finley, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased late last year by her sister Pauline Anderson and before that by her brothers William and Paul Wainwright. Aline never wanted to be called a strong woman, but she was. She took life’s ups and downs and soldiered on the best she could, always with dedication, a sense of humor, and a fierce love of her family. She created a good life for herself and her children, spending many happy times with her large circle of close friends and loved ones. She was kind and generous, her home, heart, and table always open to her children’s friends. An avid reader, she was drawn to anything that expanded her mind and avoided anything that was “an insult to her intelligence.” She loved music of all kinds, especially classical, and would often regale her children with her signature renditions of “Blue Velvet” and Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is.” She was also an artist and has left behind some beautiful drawings and pastels. Most importantly, she has left a legacy of love and devotion that her family will always treasure. Services will be held privately. The family appreciates your understanding.
