Yvonne D. (Comeau) Nickerson

ASHBY-Yvonne D. (Comeau) Nickerson 94, of 65 Carriage Way Dive, Fitchburg, a long-time Ashby resident died Wednesday, March 3, 2021. Yvonne was born in Leominster January 18, 1928, a daughter of Alphonse and Rosia (Beauregard) Comeau and was a 1945 graduate of Leominster High School. Yvonne moved to Ashby in 1953, where she lived for the next 63 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Ashby and the Booster Club and Friends of the Seniors in Fitchburg. She was an avid ballroom and line dancer and in 2017 was named Fitchburg Civic Days Queen. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Church in Townsend She leaves her husband of 74 years, Donald F Nickerson; two sons, Craig Nickerson and his wife, Yvonne, of Gardner; John Nickerson and his wife, Noel, of Leominster; her daughter-in-law, Sharron Nickerson of Milford, NH; her son-in-law, Abbie Solarez of Brawley, CA; three brothers, Norman Comeau and his wife, Jeri of Pompano Beach FL; Rene Comeau and his wife, Priscilla of Leominster; and Dr. Richard Comeau and his wife, Deanne also of Leominster. She also leaves 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and close friends. Earlier this year she was predeceased by her son, Scott Nickerson of Milford NH and her daughter, Brenda Solarez of Brawley, CA in 2006. She was the sister of the late Claire Cote and Theresa Martin both of Leominster, Rita Cotnoir of Fitchburg Raymond Comeau of Marlboro and Roland Comeau and Colorado. Yvonne worked for Tilton Cook Company, C.A. Cross Company in Fitchburg and was a school bus driver for the Amadon Farm Bus Company in Townsend for 19 years. She retired in 1990 from New England Business Service in Townsend. Funeral service will be held 10AM Saturday, June 19, 2021 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main St., Townsend.
