Brian E. Long

FITCHBURG- Brian E. Long, 45, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023. Brian was born in Leominster on October 30, 1977 the son of Elden E. and the late Shirley (Mickalsen) Long. He grew up in Ayer and attended Ayer High School where he was an active member of the high school band and jazz band. He worked at Thermalogic Inc. as a Business Development Specialist for the past 2 years. Previous to his position at Thermalogic, Brian was a chef for Tiny’s Diner in Ayer, MA for many years and continued his love for cooking working at several restaurants including KJ’s Airport Diner, the Piccolino Resaurant, and the Four Point Hotel. He then changed careers working as a salesman at Lahti’s Jeep and Bershire Bank as a financial services representative. Brian was a talented musician and songwriter. He played for many years at local venues with other local musicians. He was happiest when he was on stage playing his guitar or saxophone and singing to a crowd of people. He enjoyed playing music, cooking, gardening, going to the beach and enjoying nature. Throughout his school years, Brian spent time as a member of Pack 32 of the Cub Scouts in Ayer, MA. He leaves his fiancé, Shelley Burgess of Fitchburg; his father, Elden E. Long of Groton, VT; a son, Brandon St. Peter of Colorado; his two sisters, Donna (Duzuk) Robinson and husband Daniel of Groton, VT and Jennifer (Duzuk) Farley and husband Tym of Shirley; a grandson Jaxon; his nephews and nieces, Thaddeus, Kendra, Mathias, Lauren and Marshall, Garreth, and Annika; his great-nephews and nieces, Emma, Kaylee, Oliver, Zoey, Robert, Gwendolyn, Harper, Abigail, Charlotte and Evelynn as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. In addition to his mother, he is predeceased by a sister, LynnEllen Duzuk. Calling hours will be held on Friday morning, August 25, from 10AM to 12PM in the Isabelle & Anderson Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon St., Fitchburg, followed by a graveside service at 1PM in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on Ellis Rd. in Westminster.
